Today, a young PC gamer whose interests revolve around silicone tits in the spirit of Saint Row, the new Battle, and, say, Skyrim, when mentioning the words Jagged Alliance, at best, he will frown and ask again: “This is Beck Two Action?». And if you show him a couple of screenshots from the classics, then in response you can hear a contemptuous snort. The right JA will be remembered by real veterans, that game that made you cry, especially on high difficulty. Frankly, I’m not that star-struck myself to remember the first part, but I had a chance to taste the second part as it should be.
The purpose of this writing is to give the veterans of the civil war in Arulco a little nostalgia, and for green newcomers, those who are smarter (although I don’t particularly count on beginners), to join the imperishable and understand that the two-dimensional Vanya Dolvich, made in isometry, is cooler than Jason Brody, and also to offer fans of heavy turn-based battles a rather interesting modification that does not spoil the game, but makes her more cruel and demanding of the talents of the commander of the Expendables squad. Raising the curtain – Jagged Alliance 2 version 1.13!
New Game, and minor changes in settings.
We have a new difficulty level, it is recommended to play on it, this is the whole point of the modification.
You probably dreamed of having an additional IMP on your team? Receive – sign. For the picky ones, you can adjust the number of IMPs, from one to six.
IPM and Inventory/Attachment skills should also be set new.
I won’t focus on other parameters.
The start of the game is standard: we open the laptop, create an IPM, only we have only 15 thousand at our disposal, we don’t answer funny questions, but choose a specialization manually. And this is even good, because it was so frustrating for me to get the necessary specialties through questions.
Let’s remember how it was before. For 3 out of 30 pieces we created our own sweetheart, and for the remaining 27, most hired Gus Tarballs in AIM for the day, and one of the cheap mercenaries (for me it was Bull). On the first day, the scenario was similar for 95% of the players, Gus mowed down Omerta for half a clip, in the next sector we met Miguel, took the young pioneer Aira into our squad, and three or four of us stomped to Drassen, where the same Gus shot everyone with one left, so that the other could hold our hand and lead us through all three hostile sectors. After which the first city is captured, Gus quits, complaining that with such a frequency of crossing the border he will be mistaken for a drug courier, leaves us an inheritance in the form of an excellent gun, and then we are on our own.
B 1.13 nothing like this will work. First of all, we don’t have enough money for Gus. Secondly, we have a very serious chance of overworking ourselves and dying in Omerta, and to seize three sectors in Drassen, believe me, the task is about five times more difficult. You can take several cheap mercenaries, but I don’t recommend it, because.To. at the beginning of the game, going to storm Drassen is an absolutely ridiculous idea (even a suicide mission in Mass Effect has a better chance of success), we don’t have a stable income, and AIM people love to eat. Therefore, I advise you to create three or four IMPs, they require only one-time investments.
I advise you to think carefully about https://casino-hyper.co.uk/login/ their specialization and parameters. This determines not only whether your group will survive the first skirmish in Omerta, but also whether it will fail in the first week in Arulco. For example, the mercenary Tennessee chosen in the picture, with a face reminiscent of a young Christopher Lambert, is an important member of the team, especially in the early stages of the game. He is a ranger and scout, which will be incredibly useful, because.To. For the first week or two, our unstoppables will be quieter than the grass, like true partisans, sitting underground, somewhere in San Mona, accumulating strength and not shining. The presence of these two specialties in a mercenary allows the squad to quickly move between sectors and not fall into ambushes, and since this island of safety still needs to be reached, such skills will be in great demand in the squad. By the way, remember that in San Mona you can raise money by participating in fights without rules? This means that the team, in order to accumulate financial resources, will need a good free melee. But wait, you don’t have to create it, because.To. Besheney, who lives in Estonia, has a specialty as a boxer. And guess who will quietly sneak into Estonia and bring this psychopath back from there?? Of course Christophe… I mean, Tennessee.
Curly on the right is a sniper and mentor trainer. Mentotrainers were well regarded before, but now it can’t even be compared. It is not recommended to put impenetrable idiots into militia training, since they will train not 10 militias per training, but somewhere around 3. Time and money down the drain. By the way, to start training the militia, you need to develop your leadership skill to 20. Draw your own conclusions: is it worth teaching the idiots from MERC this skill?.
The sniper specialty is also a great thing. The fact is that in the mod, all the weapons have been completely redone, and now the right rifle, hung with various gadgets, in the hands of a good shooter can leave two corpses per turn, and you know… In some cases, which now happen all the time, two corpses per turn are a vital necessity.
The extreme woman will also be useful. She is a stealth type, and with all the appropriate upgrades, she will be the most suitable mercenary to quietly mow down the remnants of the enemy when they go into defensive mode after heavy losses. I would make her a man, but IMPs have a limit based on votes – three female, three male.
The black guy on the left will truly be the most useless in my squad and will die first. I made him a machine gunner and an athlete. Not everyone drinks and smokes. However, machine guns are now also a scary thing and if this guy survives the early stages of the game, he will have to be reckoned with. It would really make more sense if I made him a demolitionist.
I did not draw a drawing of the first contact in Omerta, because.To. I’ve already passed much further than this moment, and I don’t want to relive this horror. Just believe that there is Hell out there. It is there that you will understand what you have gotten yourself into, when the mercenaries begin to die in the crossfire, without even having time to take a step. The enemy in the sector is armed with normal assault rifles and does not intend to babysit you, as in the original version. During this skirmish, JA2 veterans will be a little confused and may be confused by the new inventory, items, aiming, and action point distribution. It won’t be difficult to figure out the last two points, we still aim the same, just a little more degrees of accuracy, and the AP has been recalculated, but everything is the same. But the inventory looks quite interesting:
In addition to the standard slots, we have a Wasserman combat loadout with a bunch of pockets for all sorts of junk, a fashionable pistol holster with three slots for clips, a pouch for inconvenient P90 magazines, a combat backpack with a ton of cosmetics for hunting your betrothed in the forest, desert and urban environment. You can also put a backpack on the mer, but I don’t like to overload the suffocated ones. Of course, we don’t have such good rags from the very beginning, but you can either find them or order them from the store on the sofa. Naturally, other merks have different equipment.
Yes, there are now a lot of clothes in the game, but there are no less weapons. There are 36 positions of sniper rifles alone. Do you want a gun like Dirty Harry?? Easily. Do you want Deser Eagle?? There are three of them, which one do you want?? P90 and Five-Seven were also ordered through Bobby Ray.
Pay attention to the column “Daily consumption”. Yeah, the militias infected with the American dream now also want to receive and spend bucks. Only I get the feeling that they spend their salary on sex, drugs and rock and roll, and sex with each other. At least that’s how they behave on the battlefield.
Anyway, back to the war. We need to make money in fights without rules to capture Drassen and keep it from the enemy army. Taught by bitter experience (and I was already trying to start the game for the third time), I set myself a limit of 75 thousand, t.To. with this money you can train the militia and order from Bobik a couple of units of lethal rifles like HK MSG-90A1, which will be very useful literally in a matter of hours, t.To. after capturing the last sector, 8 dozen comrades, mostly consisting of the elite, come to you 12 hours later and attack simultaneously from three sides at once. Yes, 80 elite carcasses in one fight, and you need to make a chop out of them, otherwise there’s no way. This is the real challenge. And you can’t rely on the militia. Of course, they bring some turmoil into the ranks of the enemy, but they themselves are very stupid and, at best, they will kill three out of eighty, and then by accident, the rest are your concern. And you won’t be lucky at all if these guys visit you at night.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a screenshot of the battle, but this is still the biggest skirmish so far, even though I already captured Kamria and recaptured Tiksa (There was a mess in Tiksa for 60 people).
Money, as I already said, is tight, so the rise in price of mercenaries is becoming a significant problem, so I’m gradually preparing a replacement for them with mercenaries with a fixed rate:
Briem Druz: “How I built a mountain of muscle in a couple of days? Very simple. I hung a couple of machine guns on myself, shot myself in the legs and went to the neighboring sector. I was able to do this, and you sit at the monitor and do nothing. Come on, shoot in the legs!»
Unfortunately, this is all my success so far in 1.13. There is still a lot to be done, capture Alma and Gram, kill the queen of beetles, assemble a robot and move to Meduna, where I feel it will be even hotter. The game has changed a little, it has become more difficult, but it’s still the same old JA2, which eats almost nothing and is still great to drive at work while the boss doesn’t see. 1.13 is a wonderful modification, although to be honest, it’s not even that much of a modification in the literal sense of the word. The mod is a departure from the canon, but here is a regular update, like SC2, nothing has changed, but only got better. For those who want to remember or learn about the classics, I recommend downloading this version.
